This ain’t a normal LuvvLetter today because I’m at a solo writing retreat, at the beach, by the water, to work on my next big book.📖✍🏾 I make that delineation because my next book that will be released is book 2 in the Little Troublemaker series (coming May 2025). 🙏🏾❤️
What I’m working on is the next book, after PROFESSIONAL TROUBLEMAKER. And it’s a book that feels divine because last year, the title dropped on my mind and I barely even knew what it’d be about. All I knew is, I had one of those moments when I was like “Ohmygoodness YES. Heard you.” 🙌🏾 Cuz it came out of nowhere but it made PERFECT sense.
I’ll tell you: all my books have come after those moments. I always have a moment when I get DEEP clarity and it comes fast. And I have to write it down. ALL my books have been like that. 📚 And then there's a time in my book writing process when I break through the wall of being stuck or procrastinating, because words start coming to me. Sometimes, it’s after I brainstorm with people I trust, and sometimes, it’s while I’m sleeping. And once that happens, I need to move on it.💡
I had my moment of breakthrough last week, so I know the assignment is to MOVE with conviction.
I say all this to remind you that even if you are not a writer, there are times when you get assignments and conviction to move. But you question it or deny it or lose it in the busy. I want to remind you to continue to obey what is yours to do. And sometimes, it might require you to pause, but in the pause is the clarity, often.
The gratitude I have for the space I’ve had this week is immense. The recognition of the privilege I have to pause my life and leave for a week to go focus on what feels like purpose work is a privilege I know many don’t have, so please know that I understand that.
How would that pause look like if I didn’t have the ability to go away? I’d put 1-2 hours on my calendar every day, to write. That’s actually how I get my books done. I will still need to live like usual as I produce and write the final book. BUT I will need to MAKE time to get it done, moving forward. 👉🏾
So yes, this is my 7th book that I’m working on (and only 4 have been published so far). WOW WOW WOW. 😭😭😭 I’m still blown away that I get paid to write for real.
Books 1-4 were 2016, 2021, 2022, 2023. Books 5-7 will be 2025, 2026 (2 might drop that year. Or 1 in spring 2027).
My mind is blown. God is great! 🫶🏾🥹
So yes, deeply thankful. Now, I’m off to continue working on this book (I’m also documenting the journey of me working on it because I realize that the WAY I write books is templated, and I can def use it to help others write BETTER books faster. Shoutout to The Book Academy). Send me some prayers of alignment and clarity. 🫰🏾🙏🏾
