Since Little Troublemaker came out a couple weeks ago, one of my FAVORITE things have been people receiving the limited edition gift boxes we sent folks in my network.

How I curate my book boxes is that I want the folks who receive them to feel seen for real. Like… I want it to surprise and delight them. I want them to open it and feel like someone thought about making them smile.

For the box for this book, it was important for it to honor the people receiving them. And since this book is dedicated to all those whose names were never on keychains, we made sure everyone who got the box got a keychain! Not just the kids: if the parent of the kid has a name that is unique, we got them keychains too!

And mannnn the way it’s been hitting folks different has made that investment so worth it. The videos of these little ones opening their boxes and seeing their names, THEIR ACTUAL NAMES, on something special? Y'all, my heart couldn't take it! 🥹 And the parents too!

Recently when I attended Leading Women Defined (AKA as "Auntie Con" and one of my fav events of the year), I took custom keychains for the women who had unique names there too.

When I tell you, it was PURE Black girl JOY! Grown women were smiling ear to ear and some were even crying. One woman was in her 70's and said she has NEVER seen her name on a keychain. 👑

These are healing to the inner child in all of us. Something so simple yet so heartening.

These moments matter so much because representation matters.

Now listen…I can't send everyone a physical box (though I wish I could!), but I CAN give you the chance to redeem those Six Flags memories (cause y’all remember how we used to stand in the gift shop on field trip days while everyone else was buying their keychain souvenir and our names had NO representation).
