On Dusty Domes, Demanding Dignity, and Daily Discipline

Hey Reader!

We’re living through a season of House of Scandal Thrones at this point. Not even a good season. 🤡 A season where the show jumped the shark and we are forced to watch with our mouths agape, wondering how we got here. And we’re asking them to fire the entire writers room cuz they’re on acid. 😩

I'm tired of the plot twists. But yeah, let's talk about what's been on my mind this week. 👇🏾

RANT

Racist people rot from the inside out.

One thing I know to be true: racism is the quickest aging serum.

In a world where folks looking for all sorts of anti-aging techniques and using SPF50. NONE of that matters if you’re walking around with the soul rot of white supremacy driving your every move. THAT SUNSCREEN WON’T MATTER. 🫠🫠🫠

The way so many people who are MAGA age like especially temperamental avocados??? It should be studied. Like… I know the NIH got defunded and the CDC is down bad but can they study that phenomenon? 😏

Hate literally makes you look like God’s rough draft and it’s so unfortunate but also satisfying to see. The Laura Loomers, Stephen Millers, Mango Mussolinis. All’em and their crew look like the epitome of “Throwaway human.”

HAVE Y’ALL SEEN LAURA and her Jigsaw face? The one who has the EFFRONTERY to talk about Jasmine Crockett. It takes nothing but audacity to have fillered and plastic-surgeried your way to whatever THAT is to be calling anyone names. 🧟‍♀️

And in case you’re like “Luvvie, we don’t body shame anyone or talk about their looks.”

Let me go on the record and say “Yes, usually, we do not. But fascists, racists, insane authoritarians and hateful shrews are the exception.” The KINDEST thing I can do is say Laura Loomer is absolutely a defect human and I don’t feel one type of bad about it.

I will face shame her til the end of her days as a form of coping and somatic therapy. 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾

Now ain't it making sense that historically, racists have always been the ones covering their faces? White hoods, masks, hiding behind anonymity because deep down they KNOW they got the faces for radio.

Maybe all that shame and spiritual decay is why they gotta cover up. Can't let people see what all that internal rot is doing to their actual faces.

All that Botox can't counteract the spiritual decay happening underneath. All those procedures can't fix what's wrong with their souls.

Black don’t crack is lowkey reparations. As they do their best to diminish us, we gon age backwards. 55 looking 30.

Meanwhile, Stephen Miller is like 37 looking 65. Sir, REPENT. Before your whole face melts off. 🫠

REFLECTION

We must refuse to be humbled.

I finished reading Kamala Harris' book "107 Days" in 2 days and it reminded me again how relentless the world can be in trying to shrink Black women. Kamala Harris followed every rule, showed every credential, and still faced sabotage at every turn. That pattern is familiar. We do everything we’re told will earn respect, yet someone will still question our place.

The grace with which this woman tells her story. The way she describes being undermined by the very people who should have been amplifying her platform.

She isn't spilling tea in the messy way folks might expect. She's telling this story with maturity and vulnerability, even as she reveals how the Biden White House wouldn't defend her from disgusting rhetoric. How they kept her hidden when they should have been showcasing her brilliance.

Reading about her experience brought up my own memories. Being undermined by people I had authority over. That familiar sting of having someone try to humble you simply because your power makes them uncomfortable. WHO YOU TALKING TO?! 😡

It’s proof that excellence does not guarantee acceptance, so the only winning strategy is to stand tall anyway. To speak our names with pride. To lead even when the room tries to edge us out.

What if we recognized that every time someone tries to humble us, they're actually revealing their own insecurities about our power? 🗣️

Your power is not dependent on their permission.

People go out of their way to try to humble us because they know what we're capable of. They see our power and think, "I need to remind her to stay in her place."

But here's the thing: the next time you wanna put me in place, put me at the TOP then! - Black women to anyone who wants to try to humble us.

If people spent more time facing their own fronts instead of trying to sabotage us, wouldn't everyone be better for it?

But still we rise, y'all. Like Mother Maya said. 🙌🏾

For every woman like Kamala, who refuses to be quiet, who insists on defending herself in the face of lies, who refuses to make others comfortable as they do harm, it’s a model for all of us. For those who have been told to quiet down, step back, make room.

We must refuse. Radically. 💪🏾
